Harry, there's been a concerning new development with the Calamity. SOS Task Force members are encountering a brand new Adversary in the field, one resembling notorious Death Eater Bartemius Crouch Junior.
Unlike other Adversaries we've faced before, Crouch is accompanied by three Guards instead of two. He's also immensely more powerful and dangerous.
For that reason, we've decided to divide Adversary Chains into two classes based on the threat they pose. We've classified all those we've faced up until now as Feared Chains. Crouch's Chain and any of equal - or, Merlin forbid, greater - power will now be known as Lethal Chains.
An Adversary's power seems to be determined by the strength of the painful memories that fuel it. Barty Crouch Jr. was a monster, even compared to other Death Eaters. It makes sense that an Adversarial version of him would be more powerful than the others we've faced so far.
But I am extremely concerned about what could happen if increasingly deadly Adversaries continue to appear. Our agents' lives - not to mention the lives of civilians all across the world - could be in mortal peril. We must put a stop to this, and soon.
Harry, you look exhausted. Is it the nightmares again?
Calling what I've been experiencing nightmares is like calling an Acromantula a spider. Do you have any idea what it feels like to relive Barty Crouch Jr.'s deceit over and over again? To be haunted by his unhinged grin?
If that's the thanks I get for being concerned, perhaps I ought to leave you alone.
Sorry, Hermione. I didn't mean to snap at you. It's just that this surge has been particularly hard on me.I haven't been able to sleep a wink. With every Adversary, I feel my strength being sucked away, as if I was being given a Dementor's Kiss.
It's been particularly hard on all of us, especially our volunteers. They managed to fend off this barrage of Barty Crouch Jr. Adversaries without any serious injuries. But, at this rate, it's only a matter of time before Voldemort himself makes an appearance. If or when he does, will we be so lucky?
