Adversary Event

START

HARRY

Constance, it's happening again. More of my memories are being used to create Adversaries. This time, they're drawing from the day Ron and I dragged Gilderoy Lockhart down into the Chamber of Secrets to save Ginny.

CONSTANCE

That explains our recent reports of violent encounters with Foes resembling Lockhart and a Basilisk. I have to say, I admire our agents' bravery. If I saw a giant snake, my first instinct would not be to--

Harry, are you all right? You look pale. Was it the egg salad? Because, to be perfectly blunt, it's not sitting well with me either...

HARRY

No, Constance, I'm not ill. At least not physically. I don't know how to describe this feeling. It's like I'm mentally reliving the Chamber of Secrets over and over... My frustration at Lockhart, anger over Tom Riddle's manipulation, the fear I felt when the Basilisk bit me... all of it on an endless loop.

CONSTANCE

It's no wonder you're pale, that sounds absolutely dreadful! But don't you worry Harry, the SOS Task Force will do everything we can to quickly put an end to this wave of Adversaries and break your cycle of torment.

HERMIONE

It was quite the ordeal, but we managed to fend off another large-scale Adversary attack. This may be my ophidiophobia talking, but were the Adversaries we faced more powerful this time?

HARRY

It did feel that way, didn't it? Not to mention that this wave certainly took more out of me, as the source of the memories, than the last one...

HERMIONE

Could the Calamity's power be growing stronger?

HARRY

I'm not sure if it's the Calamity or the memories themselves that are stronger. I have a theory that the more vivid, traumatic, and scarring the memory that's stolen is, the more powerful the resulting Adversary becomes. I don't have any definitive proof, but it lines up with my experiences.

HERMIONE

So Adversaries could be fuelled by negative emotions like fear and anger? If that is the case, I shudder to think what our mysterious enemies could have in store for us next...
